WHAT IS A HOME WARRANTY PLAN?
A home warranty plan helps protect a homeowner from the high costs of unforeseen breakdowns of their covered appliances and home systems. The plan provides for the repair and replacement and service of certain components of appliances and systems that fail due to ordinary wear and tear.
WHY WOULD I NEED A HOME WARRANTY PLAN?
A Home Warranty supplies you with an easy, suitable and affordable way to resolve many of the common repair issues in your house. With your home warranty, you only need to contact one Home Warranty company to receive many different services, saving you time and aggravation. A home warranty can reduce the out of pocket expenses from system or appliances breakdowns that would not otherwise be covered by your homeowner’s insurance policy.
HOW DO I GET SERVICE?
If an appliance or system that is covered by your plan stops working, you can either submit a request online or call (800) 341-3624 we are here 24/365 to assist you. A customer service representative will obtain your service request and will then send a work order to the appropriate service provider in your area. The service provider will call you back to schedule a time for your repair. A small service fee will be due per breakdown , unless otherwise noted in the Terms & Conditions.
WHAT IS THE TRADE SERVICE FEE?
When you place a service call you pay the service technician a Service Trade fee. The fee is the deductible for that service. Please see your Declaration of Coverage for your Service Trade fee, or ask your customer support representative. For example, if you need both your air conditioner and your interior electrical system repaired, a trade service fee will be incurred for each repair needed (ie. an HVAC technician and an electrician.) However if you have an issue with a washer and dryer for example we will cover multiple appliances on the same appointment under the same Service Trade fee.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE SERVICE?
American Residential Warranty will get you a service professional as quickly as possible, and promise that we will begin performance of services for non-emergencies in no more than 48 hours after the request is processed. For emergency service, we will make all reasonable effort to start service within 24 hours after the request is submitted.
ARE THERE LIMITS ON REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS?
There is no set limit on the number of times you may use our service under your agreement, but there are limits on the sum we will spend to repair or replace for each item covered by your plan. The limits will vary based upon the plan chosen. Please see the Terms & Conditions to view detailed information about plans and limits.
WHY ARE THE LIMITS WHAT THEY ARE?
In order to allow us to keep our plan rates as low as possible and still ensure extraordinary service we have set limits on the amount we will pay for a repair or replacement. We find that most repairs can be completed within the set limits. Additionally, if a covered repair costs more than the plan limit provides, we will pay the maximum amount and still provide you with significant savings if you didn’t have a plan.
WHAT HAPPENS IF A COVERED APPLIANCE OR SYSTEM CANNOT BE REPAIRED?
If a covered appliance or system on the home plan cannot be fixed, we will replace the item in accordance with our Terms & Conditions. Please click on the Terms & Conditions link at the bottom of this page to view detailed information about replacements.
WHY IS THERE A 30-DAY WAIT PERIOD?
We have 30-day wait period to help protect us from pre-existing conditions since we do not come out to your home to do an inspection and determine the condition of your appliances and systems.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I SELL MY HOME?
A Home Warranty can help the buyers feel secure in knowing that they will be protected in the event of a covered breakdown to an appliance or home system covered under a home warranty. When you sell your home, your home plan can be reassigned to the new homeowners. Certain plans require a $39 transfer fee. See Terms & Conditions for details.
